I happened to be in a meeting today where I met Dr. Mark P. Callery, a distinguished Boston surgeon who specializes in diseases of the gastrointestinal system (stomach, intestines), the liver, gallbladder and pancreas at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. At one point we began talking about pancreatic cancer (the kind that Patrick Swayze and Ruth Bader Ginsberg have) and he mentioned how important it is to provide patients with information on how many operations of this type their surgeon has done, their success rate, etc. He pointed to a table on his web site (below) where he provides this information to his patients.
