Within the past few weeks, obesity has been in the news either as the main health problem of several celebrities (Kathy Ireland, Kirstie Alley) or a major contributing factor to other diseases or death (Dom DeLuise). Dr. David Kessler, former FDA commissioner and medical school dean (Yale and University of California, San Francisco), has a new book out on the biological and psychological factors that thwart our efforts to eat less and lose weight. Although we’re still waiting for our copy from Amazon, the reviews are good and we heard a compelling interview with Dr. Kessler on National Public Radio this afternoon. He was also on the Colbert Report last week. www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/226155/april-29-2009/david-kessler
We will post our impressions of the book after we’ve read it
